Agata the Onion

A cycle of 7 tales about Agata, an onion growing in a garden, who knew she was destined to become part of a dish, like other vegetables. One day, she overhears that onions make people cry and feels guilty, as she never wanted to cause anyone pain. However, Agata’s fate takes a turn when a little girl takes her to her room and begins playing with her as if she were a doll. This makes Barbie jealous, as she is used to being the center of attention.

“I don’t want to make people cry.”

Agatha the Onion

Barbie convinces Agata to run away to the wild forest. Other toys tell Agata the story of the Kolobok (A popular Ukrainian tale about Kolobok—a pastry made from dough by grandpa and grandma. They placed him on the windowsill to cool, but he escaped), who once escaped despite not having legs. Inspired, Agata flees and gains her freedom. She now has the chance to live as she wishes—but what does one do with freedom? At times, she misses her roots. Along her journey, Agata faces challenges and comes to understand that freedom also comes with responsibility.
